'Chorley St Laurence, The Story of a Parish Church' is a “must read” for anyone interested in the history of our Church and the seminal role it has played in the development of the town from earliest times to the present day. Lavishly illustrated, it explains how the Church has adapted to meet the needs of a developing local community and gives an account of its architecture and furnishings – stained glass, organ, bells, historic family pews and the mysterious bones in a wall of the Lady Chapel. The book has been compiled by a group of contributors with an interest in local history and would make an ideal Christmas present for young people who would like to find out about their heritage and older friends who take an interest in our local history. All proceeds will go to the Friends of St Laurence Organ and Stained Glass Appeals.
